APC flag hoisted at Government House as Mbah’s move to ruling party gains traction
Speculation over Governor Peter Mbah’s reported defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) deepened on Monday after several members of his cabinet publicly declared support for the ruling party.
Mbah, who won the 2023 Enugu governorship election on the PDP platform with 160,895 votes against Labour Party candidate Chijioke Edeoga’s 157,552, has yet to officially confirm the rumours. However, sources close to the Government House say the announcement could be made this week.
In a video shared on X (formerly Twitter) by Mbah’s Senior Special Assistant on Media, Dan Nwomeh, several cabinet members were seen chanting APC slogans and declaring support for the governor’s imminent switch.
APC Flag Raised at Government House
The footage showed the APC flag hoisted at the Enugu State Government House, symbolising what appears to be a coordinated realignment with the ruling party at the federal level.
Among those present were the Commissioner for Innovation, Science and Technology, Dr. Lawrence Ezeh; Chairman of the Science, Technical, and Vocational Schools Management Board, Dr. Amaka S. Ngene; and the Commissioner for Labour and Employment, Dr. Felix Nnamani.

“Government House has realigned and connected to the centre. APCeee! Progress! Tomorrow is here!” Nwomeh captioned the video.

Political observers say the move could mark a significant shift in Enugu’s political landscape, where the PDP has held dominance since 1999. If confirmed, Mbah’s defection would mirror a broader trend of southern politicians aligning with the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections.
While the governor has yet to issue an official statement, sources suggest consultations have been ongoing with top APC figures in Abuja to finalize his defection plans.
