A lone accident occurred on the popular Otedola Bridge along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway this morning, leaving a yet-to-be-identified driver seriously injured after his vehicle veered off the road and plunged off the bridge.

Eyewitnesses said the accident happened in the early hours of the day, causing panic among road users. According to initial reports, the vehicle, a private car, was heading towards Berger when the driver appeared to have lost control, allegedly due to brake failure or excessive speed, causing it to somersault and crash off the bridge into the ditch below.

Emergency responders, including officials from the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), quickly arrived at the scene to conduct a rescue operation. The injured driver was pulled from the wreckage and given emergency medical attention before being rushed to the hospital.

Officials cordoned off the area and towed the wrecked vehicle away to prevent further accidents and ease traffic congestion, which had begun to build up around the site. Authorities have urged drivers to always ensure their vehicles are in good condition before setting out and to avoid speeding on the expressway, particularly near bridges and slopes known for accidents.
