Nigerian superstar DJ, Jimmy Adewale Amu aka DJ Jimmy Jatt shares throwback picture of himself at 14 years old.

DJ Jimmy Jatt is of Nigeria’s hottest DJs. He was born in Lagos Island; grew up listening to blues, soul, jazz, hip-hop, R&B, pop and other genre genre of music like Juju, Apala, Fuji, Highlife and funk.

Jimmy who is widely known for Disc Jockey started his career in the entertainment industry as a rapper known as Master J but switched to Disc Jockey after all his effort to get record label deal was to no avail.

He established his own studio with the support of his brothers and changed his name to Jimmy Jatt to honour them for brotherly support. Soon he became the father of hip-hop revolutionizing the hip-hop industry with ROAD BLOCK street Canival pioneered by Dj Jimmy Jatt. Setting up speakers, turntables, amplifiers and microphones, young lads swarmed his studio like bees unto nectar begging for a life-line. The likes of Junior and Pretty, Daddy Fresh, Daddy Showkey, DJ Abdullah, El Cream, Ruff, Rugged and Raw and Aladin (Formerly known as Chuck Da Bone), all grabbed the microphones, lighting up the stage, entertaining the crowd and basically having fun. No one had the slightest idea that Rap music was just on the brink of blowing up in Nigeria.

After several successful edition of the stree5 carnival DJ Jimmy Jatt took his hip-hop show to the university campuses hooking up DJ Raves in major university campuses across Nigeria, appealing to kids of the elites and hip hop disciples, Jimmy Jatt’s events became the Mecca of hip-hop, where heads all over the country converged. Two notable annual events were, The Tupac and Biggie (Notorious B.I.G) remembrance concerts, which virtually featured all the big names in the game. Weird,Trybesmen, Def ‘o’ clan, DrFresh, Remedies, El Dee, F.B.I and Plantashun Boiz (Tuface &Blackface) were the favourites way back… Dj Jimmy Jatt had already become a giant; he couldn’t help being noticed by big time events outfits. Getting drafted by the likes of: Cosse, Tequila, Marathon events, Vigeo, STB McCann, Contact Marketing, Kent and Summerset saw him becoming a traveling man, too busy on tour with either Coca Cola, Rothmans, St Moritz, Benson and Hedges,Nigeria Breweries, MTN,Globacom, Guiness, etc.

He dropped is debut album titled “The definition ” in 2007. The album was mode mix tape and it featured over 50 of Nigeria’s top artistes.
Artistes on the album include Tuface Idibia (now 2baba), Mode 9, Elajoe and several others.

The was widely accepted by music lovers across Africa earning him several awards nominations which are Channel O Africa Music Video Awards, The Headies (Officially Hip Hop World Award, Soundcity Music Video Award, Nigeria Music Video Award, Nigeria Music Award e.t.c if you don’t remember any of songs you can never forget “Style leh” the major hit from his debut album that enjoyed massive air play across the continent.

Cool DJ Jimmy Jatt has he love to praise himself has made such an impact that several events have been held in honour of him like the Remy Martin VIP party held in October 2013 to celebrate him.  Red Bull Nigeria appointed him to be the country’s ambassador at the prestigious Red Bull Music Academy holding in Tokyo in 2011. Jimmy Jatt uses his musical skills for a good cause as he is the official DJ for the Play Safe national campus tour in Nigeria, poised at warring against unprotected sex. He also has a T.V programme called ‘Jimmy’s Jump Off’  He has been married for about 20years and blessed with two daughters.
