Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has taken another step toward shaping global music culture as he officially joins the Recording Academy as a Grammy Voting Member.
The Recording Academy, organizers of the prestigious Grammy Awards, announced his induction in a video posted on Instagram on Tuesday. As a Voting Member, Davido will now be part of the select group responsible for screening entries, nominating, and ultimately deciding who takes home music’s most coveted award.
The 68th Annual Grammy Awards are scheduled for February 1, 2026, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, and Davido will have a direct say in who wins.

Davido joins an elite list of new Voting Members including Ravyn Lenae, Offset, Jessie Reyez, Zac Brown, Anne Akiko Meyers, Miles Minnick, Maya Elizabeth, Damien Sneed, Damaris, and Stewart Copeland.
He also joins fellow Nigerians Tito Da Fire, Laycon, Oxlade, Praiz, and music executive Bizzle Osikoya, who were admitted in earlier cycles.
To qualify for this role, members must hold credits on at least six commercially released tracks in the past five years, remain active in the industry, pay annual dues, and maintain good standing with the Academy. The rigorous process includes review by a diverse panel of professionals across genres before final approval by the Board of Trustees.
Speaking about the milestone, the “Timeless” hitmaker expressed excitement over the opportunity to help shape music history:
“Understanding the importance of how our voices are heard and participating in the Grammy Award process is a game-changer,” he said. “Voting empowers you to have a say in what is considered and voted on each award season. I’m honoured to be part of the Recording Academy community, and I look forward to voting.”
The Academy also reminded its new members that the first voting window opens on October 3.

Davido has earned four Grammy nominations so far, three at the 66th Grammy Awards in 2024 and one at the 67th edition in 2025. His 2025 nod for Best African Music Performance saw him compete alongside Burna Boy, Yemi Alade, Tems, Asake, and Wizkid. His collaboration with Chris Brown and Lojay also received recognition, though Tems ultimately claimed the win.
Despite not yet clinching a Grammy win, Davido’s inclusion as a voting member is a major milestone in his career and further solidifies Afrobeats’ growing influence on the global stage.
