The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has declared that it possesses ample reserves of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol, to comprehensively fulfill 100% of Nigeria’s domestic fuel requirements. This declaration marks a significant milestone in Nigeria’s pursuit of energy self-sufficiency.
Aliko Dangote, President of Dangote Industries Limited, made this assurance during a tour of the refinery complex by a Zambian government delegation, led by the country’s Minister of Energy, Mr. Makozo Chikote. Dangote revealed that the refinery currently holds “more than half a billion litres of petroleum and over 600 billion Naira worth of products in its tanks.”
“As we speak right now, we have more than half a billion litres. The Refinery is producing enough refined products, like gasoline, diesel, and kerosene, to meet 100 per cent of Nigeria’s requirements,” 1 Dangote stated.
The Dangote Refinery, located in the Lekki Free Zone, is one of the world’s largest single-train refineries, and its operational capacity has been a source of immense national interest. This declaration signals a potentially transformative moment for Nigeria’s energy sector.
