The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has directed troops in Kebbi State to intensify efforts to rescue 25 students abducted from the Government Girls Comprehensive Senior Secondary School (GGCSS) in Maga.
During an operational tour of the state on Monday, Gen. Shaibu instructed frontline commanders to conduct intelligence-driven operations and maintain continuous, day-and-night pursuit of the abductors. “We must find these children. Act decisively and professionally on all intelligence. Success is not optional,” he said.
The COAS also met with local vigilantes and hunters, urging them to collaborate with military personnel using their knowledge of the terrain to locate and neutralize the criminals. He emphasized that restoring peace and ensuring schoolchildren’s safety is a top priority.

Earlier reports confirmed that gunmen attacked the school on Sunday night, killing the Vice Principal, Malam Hassan Makuku, and abducting 25 students. Witnesses said the attackers operated without resistance, causing widespread panic in the area.
