Chinese Premier Li Qiang has called for enhanced dialogue and cooperation between China and the United States during a meeting in Beijing with US Senator Steve Daines, a prominent supporter of President Donald Trump. This meeting occurs amid escalating trade tensions and mutual concerns over various geopolitical issues.

Premier Li emphasized that the bilateral relationship between the world’s two largest economies is at a critical juncture. He advocated for choosing “dialogue over confrontation” and “win-win cooperation over zero-sum competition,” underscoring the importance of mutual respect and peaceful coexistence.

The meeting also included CEOs from major US corporations such as FedEx, Pfizer, and Qualcomm, reflecting the significance of economic and trade connections in China-US relations. Premier Li expressed hope that the United States would collaborate with China to promote steady, sound, and sustainable development in their bilateral ties.

This engagement highlights China’s ongoing efforts to stabilize and improve relations with the United States, particularly in light of recent challenges, including trade disputes and issues related to the illegal fentanyl trade. Both sides appear to recognize the necessity of maintaining open channels of communication to manage differences and explore areas of mutual interest.
