Former Lagos State Governor and Minister of Works, Babatunde Fashola, has delivered a compelling charge to Nigerian youths, urging them to reject “agents of division” and foster national unity amid rising ethnic and political tensions in 2025.

Speaking at a youth summit in Lagos, Fashola warned against manipulative forces exploiting tribal and religious differences to destabilize Nigeria’s progress.

Fashola highlighted recent communal clashes, such as those in Osun’s Ifon, Ilobu, and Erin-Osun communities, and political disputes like the Kogi defamation scandal, as examples of divisive tactics that undermine national cohesion. He called on youths to champion inclusivity, leverage social media for positive advocacy, and resist propaganda that fuels conflict. “Your generation has the power to unite Nigeria or tear it apart—choose unity,” Fashola declared.
