The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, formally welcomed Senator Ned Nwoko, representing Delta North Senatorial District, into the party on Wednesday. The reception took place at the APC national secretariat in Abuja, where the party reaffirmed its commitment to securing Delta State in the 2027 elections.
Nwoko, formerly of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), recently defected to the APC, citing internal conflicts and deep-seated factionalism within the PDP at both state and national levels. He explained that the instability within his former party had hindered efforts to unite and advocate for the interests of the people of Delta.
In his welcome address, Ganduje assured Nwoko that the APC would work closely with him and other stakeholders to establish a formidable presence in Delta. “We are delighted to receive you into our great party. Our goal is to build a well-structured APC in Delta, and we promise to work alongside you,” Ganduje stated. He emphasized that the APC prioritizes national unity, integrity, and effective governance through internal democracy.
Ganduje further highlighted the progress made under President Bola Tinubu’s administration, asserting that economic policies were beginning to yield tangible results. He assured Nwoko of the full support of the party leadership and announced plans for a mega rally in Delta to officially welcome him and other defectors.
“We understand that funding, organization, and commitment are not challenges for us. What we need is a highly structured party in Delta, comprising dedicated men, women, and especially young individuals, who will mobilize support at the grassroots level,” Ganduje remarked.
In response, Nwoko reaffirmed his commitment to collaborating with APC leaders and members to secure victory for the party in Delta in the next general election. He revealed that his decision to leave the PDP was due to a lack of opportunities to effectively serve his constituents. “I was elected to create a positive impact in Delta, but the PDP structure did not allow that. I believe in service, and I was not getting that chance within the PDP. Now, I am joining forces with those who want to drive real change,” Nwoko explained.

He pledged to work diligently with the party to ensure victory in the 2027 elections. “We understand Delta politics, and we know the strategies required to win. All I ask for is the party’s support,” he added. Addressing concerns about existing divisions within Delta APC, Nwoko described himself as a peacemaker and vowed to restore unity within the state chapter of the party.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Nwoko was accompanied to the APC secretariat by Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, alongside other prominent party stakeholders.
