The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commenced the distribution of sensitive election materials to all 21 local government areas of Anambra State ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.
The exercise, which began early Thursday at INEC’s headquarters in Awka, took place under tight security, with officials and security agents ensuring the safe movement of materials to designated local government offices.
Resident Electoral Commissioner, Queen Agwu, supervised the distribution alongside the Commissioner of Police for election duty, Abayomi Shogunle. Both officials assured that security arrangements have been strengthened to guarantee smooth and peaceful voting, even in riverine and hard-to-reach communities.

“The materials are being moved under heavy security escort. Our officers are ready and will be deployed across all polling units to maintain order and safety,” Shogunle stated.
According to INEC, 2,802,790 registered voters are expected to participate in the exercise across 5,718 polling units spread across the 21 local government areas of the state.
The commission added that elections will not take place in two polling units due to a lack of registered voters in those areas.

Media personnel monitored the distribution of materials and reported that officials were working efficiently to ensure timely delivery across all local government areas.
