Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has explained Marcus Rashford’s departure, revealing that the forward struggled to adapt to his vision for the team before being loaned to Aston Villa.
Rashford, 27, found himself out of favour under Amorim and spent seven weeks sidelined before securing a temporary move during the transfer window.
“I couldn’t get Marcus to see the game the way I believe it should be played or to train in the manner I expect,” Amorim said on Thursday.
“Sometimes, a player excels under one coach but doesn’t fit another’s philosophy. I hope he finds his rhythm under Unai Emery because he is a very talented player.”
As United prepare for an FA Cup fourth-round clash against Leicester, Amorim shifted focus to the club’s immediate goals.
“We are all fighting for our jobs until the summer,” he stated. “Marcus is now in Birmingham, and that chapter is closed for us. Our focus remains on the squad we have.”
