Ali Bukar Dalori, APC’s Deputy National Chairman (North), assumed the role of Acting National Chairman on June 28, 2025, following Abdullahi Ganduje’s resignation, as directed by President Bola Tinubu.

Dalori, a Borno native, pledged inclusiveness, promising to unite APC’s 20 million members across 36 states ahead of the July 24 NEC meeting to appoint a substantive chairman. His appointment follows Ganduje’s exit, attributed to Tinubu’s strategy to woo Rabiu Kwankwaso and appease North-Central stakeholders.

Dalori, a former House of Representatives member, emphasized reconciling factions, including Kano’s 1.5 million voters, and strengthening Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which has delivered 500,000 jobs since 2023.

His leadership faces challenges, with 30% of APC’s state chapters reporting internal disputes. The North-Central’s push for the chairmanship, backed by 1,000 stakeholders, cites their 1.76 million votes in 2023. Dalori’s interim tenure, supported by 80% of the NWC, aims to boost APC’s 2027 vote share by 10%, with a N100 million budget for party reforms.
