Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has approved the recruitment of 1,000 teachers as part of efforts to strengthen the state’s education sector and address the shortage of qualified educators in public schools.

The governor made the announcement during a press briefing in Akure, emphasizing his administration’s commitment to improving the quality of education across the state. He highlighted that the new recruitment exercise would prioritize subject areas with teacher shortages, including Mathematics, English, and Science subjects.

The decision comes amid growing concerns over the declining teacher-to-student ratio in many public schools across Ondo State. Education stakeholders have repeatedly called for urgent intervention to bridge the gap and ensure that students receive quality instruction.

The recruitment process will be handled by the state’s Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), which has been tasked with ensuring transparency and merit-based selection. Interested applicants have been advised to visit the commission’s portal for details on the application process.

Governor Aiyedatiwa assured residents that this initiative is just one of many strategies aimed at revitalizing the education sector, noting that his administration will continue to invest in teacher training, infrastructure development, and digital learning tools to enhance learning outcomes in the state.
