Adesua Etomi Opens Up About Emergency C-Section and Family Health Struggles

 Nollywood actress Adesua Etomi has candidly shared the profound health challenges she and her family faced throughout 2024. In a heartfelt Instagram post commemorating her birthday on February 22, 2025, Adesua detailed a series of medical ordeals that tested their resilience and faith.

The year began with Adesua battling hyperemesis gravidarum, a severe form of morning sickness that left her debilitated for months. This condition necessitated multiple hospital admissions, during which she received extensive medical care to manage the relentless nausea and dehydration. Despite these efforts, the severity of her symptoms persisted, casting a shadow over what is typically a joyous period of expectancy.

Compounding the family’s distress, Adesua’s husband, renowned musician and actor Banky W, was diagnosed with a cancerous tumor. The diagnosis came at a time when Adesua was still grappling with her own health issues. Banky W underwent surgery to remove the tumor, a procedure that was both physically taxing and emotionally draining for the couple. Adesua expressed profound gratitude to the medical teams in Lagos, Nigeria, and Washington, D.C., who provided exceptional care during these trying times.

As the year progressed, Adesua faced yet another critical health scare. Complications during her pregnancy led to an emergency cesarean section. The procedure was imperative to safeguard both her life and that of her unborn child. The aftermath of the surgery involved a harrowing healing process, marked by physical pain and emotional turmoil. Reflecting on these experiences, Adesua remarked, “2024 really tried to take the wind out of my sails, so I’m grateful to be here celebrating my life and God’s faithfulness.”
