Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman is set to make his long-awaited return for Atalanta after being sidelined since July, following a tense standoff over his transfer request earlier this season.
Atalanta head coach Ivan Juric confirmed the Nigerian winger’s comeback during Saturday’s pre-match press conference, announcing that Lookman will be available for selection when the club faces Torino in Sunday’s Serie A clash.
“Ademola Lookman is back and he will be available from tomorrow,” Juric told reporters, signalling the end of a two-month impasse that had cast uncertainty over the 27-year-old’s future.

A Fresh Chapter After Transfer Drama
Lookman’s return marks the resolution of a saga that began in the summer when he handed in a transfer request in a bid to force a move to Serie A rivals Inter Milan. Atalanta’s hierarchy responded by excluding him from first-team action, insisting that he would not play until he demonstrated renewed commitment to the club.
The standoff coincided with a difficult start to the season for the Bergamo side, which included a disappointing 4–0 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League group stage.
In recent weeks, Lookman reportedly held a crucial meeting with Juric and club CEO Luca Percassi, where he pledged to refocus on helping Atalanta achieve their goals this season. Sources close to the team suggest he also addressed his teammates, apologising for the distraction caused by the transfer saga and expressing his renewed motivation to contribute.
Boost for Atalanta’s Attack
Lookman’s reinstatement is expected to bolster Atalanta’s attacking options as they look to regain momentum in both domestic and European competitions. Known for his explosive pace, direct dribbling, and eye for goal, the Nigerian international was one of the club’s standout performers last season, scoring key goals that helped secure European qualification.

His return comes at a critical time, with Atalanta aiming to climb back into the Serie A top four and recover from their sluggish start. Fans will be eager to see whether the forward can quickly rediscover his form and bring the creativity that was sorely missed during his absence.
Sunday’s clash against Torino will be Lookman’s first chance to put the turbulent summer behind him and re-establish himself as one of Atalanta’s most influential players.
