The Federal Captital Territory Senator, Nyesom Wike has expressed his heartfelt condolences to Samuel Ortom, the Governor of Benue State, following the untimely death of his younger brother, Benjamin Ortom.

 The younger Ortom tragically lost his life in a car accident on March 30, 2025, in Makurdi, the capital city of Benue State. Benjamin Ortom, who was well-known in the local community for his philanthropic efforts and advocacy for rural development, died instantly in the crash, which has left both his family and the state in mourning.

Wike, in his message, described the death as a great loss to the Ortom family and the people of Benue State, citing the late Benjamin Ortom’s invaluable contributions to the state’s development and his work in enhancing the welfare of his community. The condolence message, issued through Wike’s press office, noted, “The pain of losing a loved one is always profound, and I stand with you in this time of grief. May you find comfort in the good work that your brother did, which will continue to inspire many.”

Governor Samuel Ortom has not yet issued an official statement, but it is understood that he is deeply affected by the sudden loss. The Ortom family is currently making preparations for the funeral, which is expected to draw condolences from politicians and citizens alike.
