Speaking at an event organized by the Voice of Woman Empowerment Foundation in Abuja, Obi highlighted the deteriorating economic conditions, escalating insecurity, and infrastructural decay as indicators of a nation in distress. He emphasized that the responsibility to advocate for change transcends political affiliations and rests upon all stakeholders committed to the nation's progress.
"Our country is on the verge of collapse," Obi stated, "and it is imperative for all voices, especially those in opposition, to come together and speak out against the prevailing challenges. Silence in the face of adversity is not an option."
Obi's remarks come in the wake of recent national crises, including the collapse of the national power grid, which he described as a "national shame" and a testament to leadership failures. He pointed out that while other nations are making significant strides in infrastructure and economic development, Nigeria appears to be regressing, a situation he attributes to poor governance and lack of visionary leadership.
Furthermore, Obi expressed concern over the increasing poverty rates, unemployment, and the exodus of both foreign and local investors due to unfavorable economic policies and insecurity. He urged the government to prioritize policies that would revitalize the economy, create jobs, and restore investor confidence.
