An Israeli airstrike targeting a residential building in Beirut has killed four people, including Hassan Bdair, a senior Hezbollah commander responsible for the group's Palestinian operations. The strike, which took place late Monday night, marks a significant escalation in the ongoing hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah.

Lebanese officials reported that Bdair’s residence was completely destroyed in the attack, with debris scattered across a densely populated neighborhood. The Lebanese Health Ministry confirmed that among the victims was a woman, but her identity has not yet been disclosed.

Israel has neither officially confirmed nor denied responsibility for the attack, in line with its longstanding policy on cross-border operations. However, Israeli security sources suggested that the strike was a response to recent Hezbollah rocket attacks on Israeli border towns.

Hezbollah has vowed retaliation, with the group’s leader, Hassan Nasrallah, declaring that Israel “will pay the price” for the assassination. In a televised speech, Nasrallah warned that Hezbollah would intensify its military actions against Israeli targets, raising fears of a broader conflict in the region.

The attack has drawn international condemnation, with the United Nations urging all parties to exercise restraint and avoid further escalation. Regional analysts believe that this latest incident could have serious implications for Lebanon’s fragile political stability, as Hezbollah holds significant influence over the country’s government and security forces.
