The Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) has demonstrated exceptional fiscal performance by surpassing its 2024 revenue target, achieving a collection of ₦6.105 trillion. This accomplishment was lauded by the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, who emphasized the NCS's crucial role in supporting the federal government's ambitious ₦49 trillion expenditure plan for 2025.
Mr. Edun highlighted the NCS's significant contribution during the 61st quarterly board meeting of the agency held at the Customs House in Abuja. He noted that the NCS's performance was instrumental in achieving the government's revenue goals, which are vital for funding critical infrastructure projects and social programs aimed at stimulating economic growth and development.
The Finance Minister further commended the NCS for its transparency and efficiency, which have significantly enhanced revenue collection and trade facilitation. He urged Customs officers to remain committed to national goals, emphasizing the agency’s role in poverty reduction and economic growth.
