This story’s straight out of a Nollywood thriller! Benjamin Best Nnayereugo, aka Killaboi, was extradited from Doha, Qatar, to Nigeria on April 19, 2025, to face trial for the alleged murder of his 21-year-old girlfriend, Augusta Oseodion Onuwabhagbe, on July 13, 2023. This 18-month manhunt had Nigeria glued to the news, and the twists are wild.
Killaboi, a crypto trader, allegedly killed Augusta, a first-class student at Lead City University, Ibadan, at his home in Oral Estate, Ajah, Lagos, during an argument. He fled Nigeria, posting a cryptic Instagram video confessing to the act, which police called a diversion tactic.
Declared wanted by Lagos police on October 13, 2023, an INTERPOL Red Notice followed. Killaboi was nabbed in Freetown, Sierra Leone, under the alias “Kanu Princeton Samuel,” but escaped during a November 2023 prison break.
Using forged identities, he moved through West Africa, East Asia, and the Middle East, landing in Qatar by January 2025 with a fake Guinean passport as “Toure Abdoulaye.” Biometric tech and INTERPOL’s teamwork with Nigeria’s Ministry of Justice and Qatari authorities led to his arrest.
Now back in Lagos, Killaboi faces prosecution, with Augusta’s family, backed by lawyer Femi Falana, seeking justice. Nigeria’s 3,000 annual murder cases make this a high-stakes moment.
