A High Court in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, has dismissed a lawsuit filed by a faction loyal to Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, challenging the leadership of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) under Chief Dr. Boniface Aniebonam and National Chairman Dr. Agbo Major. The ruling, delivered on April 3, 2025, upholds the legitimacy of the current party leadership.

The suit sought to nullify the outcomes of the party's recent congresses and National Convention, which resulted in the election of the current leadership. The court's decision reinforces a previous judgment by the Abia State High Court in November 2024, which also affirmed the validity of the NNPP's leadership structure.

In response to the ruling, the Kwankwaso faction expressed dissatisfaction, indicating intentions to explore further legal avenues. This development underscores ongoing internal disputes within the NNPP, reflecting broader challenges faced by political parties in maintaining unity and coherence amidst divergent interests.
