Following the ruling of the Edo State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, which upheld the election of Senator Monday Okpebholo as the duly elected governor, the People's Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Asue Ighodalo, has announced his decision to take the legal battle to the Court of Appeal.
Ighodalo, who rejected the tribunal’s verdict, argued that there were significant irregularities in the electoral process that were ignored by the tribunal. He maintained that he had a strong case and expressed confidence that the Court of Appeal would deliver justice.
His legal team has vowed to present fresh evidence and challenge the tribunal’s reasoning, stating that they remain optimistic about overturning Okpebholo’s victory.
Meanwhile, the APC has urged Ighodalo and the PDP to respect the will of the people, accept the tribunal’s ruling, and support the new administration for the development of Edo State.
