Wema Bank's Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Moruf Oseni, has reiterated the bank's dedication to promoting women's empowerment, gender inclusion, and equality. 

Speaking at the bank's International Women's Day (IWD) 2025 event in Lagos, Oseni emphasized Wema Bank's longstanding commitment to supporting women, stating, "We walk the talk when it comes to women empowerment."

Since the launch of its women-focused initiative, SARA by Wema, in 2019, the bank has made significant strides in supporting women's financial inclusion. The program has provided financial services to over 400,000 unbanked women, disbursed ₦75 billion in low-interest loans, and facilitated the creation of over 900 jobs for women.

Additionally, Wema Bank has offered market access to 3,000 women, connecting them with over 135,000 customers and generating over $4 million in sales.

The IWD 2025 event, themed "Harnessing Innovation & Technology To Accelerate Financial Inclusion for Women," brought together prominent women from various sectors to discuss innovative approaches to advancing financial inclusion for women. The bank's chairman, Dr. Oluwayemisi Olorunshola, highlighted Wema Bank's role in promoting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) related to global gender equality.
