President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima joined thousands of Muslim faithful at the National Eid ground in Abuja to observe the Eid-El-Fitr prayers, marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
The Eid prayer was attended by top government officials, including the Deputy Senate President, Barau Jibrin; the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu; ministers, and other dignitaries.
Eid-El-Fitr, meaning "Festival of Breaking the Fast," is a significant religious event celebrated by Muslims globally. The day marks the end of a month-long period of fasting, prayers, and self-discipline observed during Ramadan. The prayers are traditionally performed in large congregational settings, fostering unity, gratitude, and communal harmony.
After the prayer session, President Tinubu extended warm greetings to Muslims across the country, emphasizing the importance of unity, peace, and continued prayers for Nigeria’s development. He urged Nigerians to embrace the spirit of forgiveness, charity, and nation-building.
The celebration was also marked in various parts of Nigeria, with state governors and religious leaders calling for peaceful coexistence and prayers for the nation. Security agencies were deployed in strategic locations to ensure a hitch-free celebration across the country.
