South Korea's Constitutional Court has reinstated Prime Minister Han Duck-soo as acting president, overturning his earlier impeachment. Han had been serving as acting president since December 2024, following the impeachment of President Yoon Suk Yeol over the imposition of martial law.

Han's impeachment by the opposition-controlled National Assembly was based on allegations of his failure to prevent President Yoon's declaration of martial law and his refusal to appoint additional justices to the Constitutional Court.

The court's decision to reinstate Han comes amid heightened political tensions and ahead of a pending ruling on President Yoon's impeachment, which could potentially lead to new presidential elections.

Han has pledged to focus on steering the economy through ongoing trade disputes with the United States, emphasizing his commitment to defending national interests.
