Samsung Electronics has announced the passing of its Vice Chairman and co-CEO, Han Jong-Hee, at the age of 63. Han, who played a significant role in Samsung’s rise as a global leader in consumer electronics, reportedly died from cardiac arrest.


Han joined Samsung in 1988 and made remarkable contributions to the company’s advancements, particularly in display technology and premium television products. He was instrumental in the development of Samsung’s high-end LED and QLED TVs, helping the brand establish dominance in the global TV market.

In 2021, he was appointed Vice Chairman and CEO of Samsung Electronics, overseeing the company’s Device eXperience (DX) division, which manages TV, home appliances, and mobile businesses. His tenure saw a strong focus on innovation and sustainable technology.

The news of Han’s death has left many in the tech industry mourning his loss, with tributes pouring in from colleagues and industry leaders. He is survived by his wife and three children.

Samsung has yet to announce details regarding his funeral arrangements or a successor to his position.
