The political landscape in Rivers State witnessed another major shake-up as the Sole Administrator of the state appointed Professor Ibibia Worika, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), as the new Head of Service following the resignation of the previous occupant of the position.

The sudden resignation of the former Head of Service has raised concerns among political observers, especially in light of recent administrative changes in the state. The administrator, while announcing the appointment, praised Professor Worika’s vast experience in public policy, governance, and law, stating that he is well-suited to handle the responsibilities of the office.

Professor Worika has previously served in various capacities within the government and academia, making significant contributions to policy development and legal reforms. His appointment is expected to bring stability and continuity to the civil service.

Meanwhile, reactions have continued to trail the changes in Rivers State’s leadership structure, with some analysts suggesting that the resignation of the former Head of Service could be linked to internal political disagreements. However, the state government has dismissed such claims, insisting that the resignation was a personal decision.

As Worika assumes his new role, he is expected to work closely with other government officials to implement key reforms aimed at improving governance and service delivery in the state.
