The Osun State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of three individuals in connection with the recent communal clashes involving the Ifon, Ilobu, and Erin-Osun communities. The conflict, which escalated over land disputes, resulted in casualties, destruction of property, and heightened tensions in the affected areas.
The Commissioner of Police in Osun State, Mohammed Umar Abba, stated that the suspects were apprehended after thorough investigations linked them to the violence. He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to restoring peace and ensuring justice by prosecuting those responsible for the unrest.
The clashes between these communities have been a recurring issue, with past attempts at reconciliation failing to achieve lasting peace. The police, in collaboration with traditional rulers and local authorities, have intensified efforts to prevent further bloodshed.
Governor Ademola Adeleke has also condemned the violence, calling on all parties involved to embrace dialogue and peaceful coexistence. He assured residents that security agencies would take firm action against any individuals or groups attempting to incite further trouble.
The suspects are currently in custody and will be charged to court upon the completion of investigations.
