The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is facing a significant challenge following the revocation of the land title for its national secretariat, Wadata Plaza, located in Abuja's Central Area. On March 13, 2025, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, issued a notice revoking the right of occupancy for Plot No. 243, citing the party's failure to pay ground rents for over two decades. The revocation has sparked tensions between the PDP and the FCT administration, with the party's National Working Committee (NWC) expressing strong objections to the decision.

In light of this development, an aide to Minister Wike has advised the PDP leadership to engage in direct negotiations with the minister to resolve the issue. The aide emphasized the importance of following due process, suggesting that the party should formally communicate with the FCT administration to address the outstanding financial obligations and seek a possible reversal of the revocation. This approach aligns with standard procedures for titleholders facing similar challenges, underscoring the need for compliance with administrative protocols to achieve an amicable resolution.

The PDP's acting National Chairman, Umar Damagum, has convened an emergency meeting of the NWC to deliberate on the matter and formulate a strategic response. The outcome of these deliberations and subsequent engagements with the FCT administration will significantly impact the party's operational base in the nation's capital. This situation highlights the critical importance of maintaining compliance with statutory obligations to prevent administrative actions that could disrupt organizational functions.
