The Kebbi State Government has announced plans to establish a multi-million-dollar cement factory with an annual production capacity of three million tons. The project is expected to enhance industrial growth, create employment opportunities, and boost the state's revenue generation.
According to the Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasir Idris, the initiative is a strategic move to harness the state’s abundant limestone resources while contributing to Nigeria’s growing construction and real estate sectors. The governor revealed that discussions with key investors and industry stakeholders are at an advanced stage, with feasibility studies already conducted.
“The establishment of this cement factory will not only position Kebbi as an industrial hub but also create thousands of direct and indirect jobs for our people,” the governor stated. He added that the government is committed to ensuring that the project is executed efficiently to maximize its economic benefits.
The cement factory, once operational, will also contribute to stabilizing cement prices in the local market and reducing Nigeria’s dependency on imported cement. The project aligns with the federal government’s industrialization drive, which aims to encourage states to explore and develop their natural resources for economic growth.
