Renowned Nollywood actress and activist Hilda Dokubo has spoken out against the ongoing crisis in Rivers State, firmly stating that Governor Siminalayi Fubara should not be blamed for the state of affairs. Her remarks come amidst escalating political tensions following the controversial suspension of the governor and the subsequent appointment of a sole administrator for the state by President Bola Tinubu.
Dokubo, who has been an outspoken advocate for good governance and democratic principles, expressed her concerns in a strongly-worded video shared on her social media platforms. According to her, the political turmoil in Rivers State is a premeditated power struggle orchestrated by certain political figures who do not want Fubara to exercise his full authority as an elected governor.
“The governor is not the problem of Rivers State. The people who are bent on controlling Rivers State from behind the scenes are the ones throwing the state into chaos,” she stated.
She further accused the federal government of enabling unconstitutional practices, adding that the declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State was a desperate attempt to hijack the economic resources of the state. She called on the people of Rivers to remain vigilant and resist any form of oppression, urging Nigerians to speak out against actions that threaten the nation’s democracy.
Her statements have sparked discussions on social media, with many supporting her stance and criticizing what they see as an overreach by the federal government.
