In a bid to bolster Nigeria's fight against drug trafficking and abuse, the French government has donated operational equipment to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA). The donation includes vehicles, surveillance gadgets, and protective gear designed to enhance the agency's operational efficiency.
At the handover ceremony held in Abuja, the French Ambassador to Nigeria, Emmanuelle Blatmann, reiterated France's commitment to supporting Nigeria's efforts in combating drug-related crimes. She highlighted the importance of international collaboration in addressing the global challenge of drug trafficking and expressed confidence that the equipment would significantly aid the NDLEA's operations.
NDLEA Chairman, Brigadier General Mohamed Buba Marwa (Retd), expressed gratitude for the support, noting that the equipment would enhance the agency's capacity to conduct surveillance, intelligence gathering, and interdiction operations. He emphasized that such collaborations are vital in the agency's mission to rid Nigeria of illicit drugs and their associated consequences.
This gesture by France is part of a broader international effort to support Nigeria's anti-drug initiatives, recognizing the country's strategic role in regional security and the global fight against narcotics.
