The Federal Government has called on Nigerian women to actively participate in the capital market to enhance their economic empowerment and contribute to national development. This appeal was made during a recent workshop organized by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in collaboration with the Ministry of Women Affairs.
The workshop aimed to educate women on the benefits of investing in the capital market, diversify their income streams, and promote financial literacy. Topics covered included investment strategies, risk management, and understanding financial instruments.
The Minister of Finance, Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite, during her keynote address, emphasized the importance of women's participation in the economy. She noted that empowering women financially leads to improved family welfare and accelerates economic growth.
The Director-General of SEC reiterated the commission's commitment to creating an inclusive capital market. He highlighted ongoing initiatives aimed at reducing entry barriers for women and providing necessary support to female investors.
Attendees expressed appreciation for the initiative, stating that the knowledge gained would enable them to make informed investment decisions. Many called for more such programs to be held nationwide to reach a broader audience.
