Nigerian rapper, activist, and lawyer Folarin Falana, popularly known as Falz, has strongly condemned President Bola Tinubu’s recent decision to suspend Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara. In a series of social media posts, the outspoken musician described the suspension as unconstitutional and a dangerous precedent for Nigeria’s democracy.

Falz, who has been vocal about political issues in Nigeria, criticized the move, arguing that the Nigerian constitution does not grant the president the power to suspend a sitting governor. He labeled the action as an outright attack on democracy and called on Nigerians to resist any attempts to subvert the rule of law.

“There is no law in this country that allows the president to wake up and suspend a sitting governor. This is madness,” Falz wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

The rapper also questioned why the Rivers State crisis had escalated to the point of federal intervention, suggesting that political interests were at play rather than genuine concern for the people. He warned that if such actions were allowed to stand, it could set a dangerous precedent where any elected official could be arbitrarily removed from office.

His statement has sparked widespread discussions, with many Nigerians echoing his concerns and calling for the protection of democratic institutions in the country.
