A tragic incident occurred in Oghara, Ethiope-West Local Government Area of Delta State, where a commercial motorcyclist, popularly known as "Papa Ejime," reportedly committed suicide after his wife left him over allegations of gambling addiction and domestic violence.
According to eyewitnesses, the deceased had been battling severe financial distress due to his excessive gambling habits, often losing large sums of money. His wife, who had reportedly been the family's primary provider, finally walked away from the marriage after enduring repeated episodes of domestic abuse.
Neighbors disclosed that the man became visibly depressed after his wife's departure. He was last seen in a distressed state before his lifeless body was discovered in his room. Authorities have since launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death, while community leaders have called for increased awareness regarding mental health challenges and domestic abuse.
