The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) has officially terminated the contract of Dorival Júnior as the head coach of the Brazil national football team. This decision comes in the wake of a series of disappointing performances, culminating in a 4-1 defeat to Argentina in a South American World Cup qualifier on March 25, 2025.

Dorival Júnior assumed the role in January 2024, succeeding interim coach Fernando Diniz. During his tenure, the team struggled to achieve consistent success, with the loss to Argentina being particularly significant. The CBF's leadership, under President Ednaldo Rodrigues, convened to discuss the team's trajectory and ultimately decided to part ways with Dorival.

In a statement, the CBF expressed gratitude for Dorival's efforts but emphasized the necessity for a change to revitalize the team's performance ahead of the 2026 World Cup. The federation is now actively seeking a replacement, with names like Jorge Jesus and Abel Ferreira emerging as potential candidates.

This marks the fifth coaching change for the Brazilian national team in the past three years, highlighting a period of instability and the pressing need for a strategic direction to restore Brazil's prominence in international football.
