Atalanta's pursuit of their inaugural Serie A title suffered a significant setback with a 1-0 loss to Fiorentina at the Stadio Artemio Franchi. The decisive goal came just before halftime when Fiorentina's Moise Kean capitalized on a defensive lapse, executing a solo run that culminated in a precise shot past goalkeeper Marco Carnesecchi into the bottom corner.

Throughout the match, Fiorentina displayed early dominance, maintaining possession and pressing high up the pitch. Atalanta struggled to create meaningful opportunities, failing to register a single shot on target. Despite increased possession in the second half, their offensive efforts remained fruitless, leading to substitutions aimed at revitalizing the attack, including the introduction of Daniel Maldini and Lazar Samardzic.

This defeat leaves Atalanta in third place with 58 points, trailing league leaders Inter Milan by six points and second-placed Napoli by three. Manager Gian Piero Gasperini, serving a one-match suspension, acknowledged that their title ambitions had already been compromised following a prior loss to Inter Milan. He emphasized the challenges ahead, noting upcoming fixtures against direct competitors such as Lazio and Bologna.

Fiorentina, on the other hand, bolstered their European qualification prospects, now sitting eighth with 51 points. The victory also ended Atalanta's seven-month unbeaten away streak in Serie A, highlighting Fiorentina's resilience and tactical discipline.
