Arsenal is reportedly preparing to sell four players, including Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Partey, in a bid to secure the signature of Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen in the upcoming summer transfer window. The Gunners, who have long been admirers of the Napoli forward, are ready to make a serious push to bring the Super Eagles star to the Emirates Stadium.
According to sources close to the club, Arsenal’s management has identified Osimhen as the ideal striker to bolster Mikel Arteta’s attack. The 25-year-old Nigerian, who played a crucial role in Napoli’s Serie A title triumph last season, has been on the radar of several European clubs, including Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain.
However, with Osimhen’s hefty release clause set at around €120 million, Arsenal will need to free up funds and create space in their squad. As a result, Thomas Partey, Emile Smith Rowe, Eddie Nketiah, and Reiss Nelson have been earmarked for potential sales to raise capital.
Partey, who has struggled with injuries this season, is reportedly attracting interest from clubs in Saudi Arabia and Italy. Meanwhile, Smith Rowe and Nelson have struggled for consistent game time under Arteta, while Nketiah remains a backup option rather than a first-choice striker.
Despite Arsenal’s strong interest, they face stiff competition from Chelsea, who are also keen to sign Osimhen as they look to strengthen their attack. The Blues are reportedly willing to offer a swap deal involving Romelu Lukaku to convince Napoli to sell.
Nevertheless, Arsenal remains confident that their long-term project under Arteta and their impressive league form will help them persuade Osimhen to choose North London over Stamford Bridge.
As the summer transfer window approaches, all eyes will be on Arsenal’s transfer dealings to see whether they can finally secure one of the most sought-after strikers in European football.
