In a decisive move to enhance road safety and mitigate the risk of accidents involving large vehicles, the Federal Government has announced a nationwide ban on 60,000-liter tankers, effective from March.

This policy decision is expected to have a substantial impact on the transportation of petroleum products and other bulk goods across Nigeria. The government aims to reduce the frequency and severity of road accidents, which have often resulted in significant loss of life and property.

The ban is a response to concerns about the safety of these large tankers, which are often involved in accidents due to their size, weight, and the nature of the cargo they carry. The implementation of this ban will require adjustments within the logistics and transportation sectors, as companies will need to transition to smaller tankers or explore alternative modes of transportation.

The government is expected to provide support and guidance to ensure a smooth transition and minimize disruptions to the supply chain. This initiative signifies the government's commitment to prioritizing public safety and implementing measures to prevent road accidents.
